Baseball Recap: Basic Takes Down Reno in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Basic rose to the challenge on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Reno Huskies a 3-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won three in a row.

Not much got past Lincoln Evans, who gave up just six hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Reno off the board. Evans has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Basic's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lyndon Lee, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Basic's victory bumped their record up to 23-7. As for Reno, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 25-14 record this season.

Basic and Reno are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Wolves will square off against Faith Lutheran at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Reno, they will challenge Bishop Manogue at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Huskies 3.5, the Miners 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
