Recap: Pensacola Catholic Crusaders vs. Escambia Gators
The Pensacola Catholic Crusaders had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 52-25 victory over Escambia. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Pensacola Catholic also won the last time the pair played on December 7th.
Maddie Hammergren was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenecia Swindell, who scored seven points along with six steals.
Pensacola Catholic's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-8. As for Escambia, their loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8.
Pensacola Catholic will be playing at home against Pensacola Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Escambia will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against West Florida at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
