Basketball Game Preview: Franklin Pierce Cardinals vs. Sequim Wolves

The Franklin Pierce Cardinals will take on the Sequim Wolves at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Sequim will be up against a hot Franklin Pierce team: the squad just extended their winning streak to 14. Franklin Pierce took their game on Wednesday with ease, bagging a 68-30 victory over Olympic. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Trojans are ranked 210th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Javon Barbee, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten rebounds. His evening made it 21 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jimrac Newmann-Godful, who went 5-for-8 to rack up 13 points along with five boards and four steals.

Franklin Pierce smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 24 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Sequim on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 76-50 margin over Foss. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Wolves had established a 21 point advantage.

Franklin Pierce pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.5 points over those games. As for Sequim, their victory bumped their record up to 17-3.
