Softball Recap: Nelsonville-York's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Nelsonville-York dropped their record down to 12-6 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Wellston Golden Rockets. The Buckeyes were red-hot at the plate heading into the match (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but the Golden Rockets' pitcher proved too tough.

As for Wellston, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Considering they have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Wellston's part, Maddie Childers was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two doubles. Karly Rinehart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Nelsonville-York will take on rival Vinton County at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Wellston is set to square off against their familiar foe Alexander at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
