Baseball Recap: Kempsville Comes Up Short

The matchup between Kempsville and Hickory on Wednesday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Chiefs came up short against the Hawks, falling 19-1. The Chiefs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kempsville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Bergenholtz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Kempsville's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Hickory, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Kempsville will be playing at home against Salem at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hickory does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
