Soccer Recap: Firebaugh Takes a Loss

Firebaugh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Avenal Buccaneers. The match was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

Firebaugh's loss dropped their record down to 6-15-1. As for Avenal, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2-4 record this season.

Firebaugh and Avenal could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Firebaugh will square off against Dos Palos at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 801 places (1029 vs. 228). Meanwhile, Avenal (ranked 487th) will meet Mendota (ranked 113th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
