Softball Recap: Wooster Generals vs. Lexington Minutemen
Wooster extended their losing streak to seven on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 2-13 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Lexington Minutemen. If the Generals were looking for revenge after losing 11-1 to the Minutemen when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Lexington, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2. Considering they have won nine matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Lexington's part, Makaree Chapman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Chapman has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Kylie Thornton was incredible, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Quinn Patrick was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.
While Wooster had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
