Baseball Recap: Seymour Comes Up Short

The matchup between Seymour and Pittsfield on Thursday hardly resembled the 3-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Indians came up short against the Saukees, falling 15-6. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Saukees this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in April.

Lane Barker made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Seymour's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 3-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Dalton Phillips, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Seymour's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Pittsfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-8.

Looking ahead, Seymour will challenge Mendon Unity at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Indians are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Pittsfield, they will face off against PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
