Basketball Recap: Notre Dame Takes a Loss

If Notre Dame was riding high fresh off their 44-22 takedown of Batavia last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Elba Lancers on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish haven't had much luck with the Lancers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the loss, Notre Dame saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Sofia Falleti dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. The match was Falleti's 11th in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Gianna Falleti, who posted six points.

Even though they lost, Notre Dame smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Notre Dame's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Elba, the win keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.

Notre Dame didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-26 victory against Webber on the 13th. Elba does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
