The Rise Academy Guardians are taking a road trip to challenge Legacy Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rise Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 matches -- so hopefully Legacy Academy likes a good challenge.
Rise Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 107-103 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Carmel School. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (77), the Guardians still had to take the loss.

Rise Academy might have lost, but man, Nathaniel Seaborn was a machine: he posted 42 points and eight rebounds. The contest was Seaborn's ninth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Devonte Atkins, who put up 24 points in addition to seven assists and six boards.
Even though they lost, Rise Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 33 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Legacy Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch last Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Norfolk Collegiate, falling 79-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Legacy Academy has suffered since December 13, 2024.
Rise Academy will need to focus on slowing down Malik Douglas, one of several Legacy Academy players who made an impact when they last played. He went 8-for-12 en route to 19 points. Douglas is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 57% in the last three games he's played. Anderson Allen was another key player, putting up nine points.
Legacy Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Rise Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 14-6.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Rise Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 73 points per game. However, it's not like Legacy Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 65.1 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Rise Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Legacy Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, winning 88-81. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rise Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
