Softball Game Preview: North Greene Spartans vs. Litchfield Purple Panthers

The North Greene Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Litchfield Purple Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Greene hasn't scored more than two runs for four games straight, a trend the squad is eager to reverse.

On Monday, North Greene came up short against Barry Western and fell 7-2.

Meanwhile, Litchfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Father McGivney Catholic on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Griffins by a score of 7-6. The Purple Panthers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Litchfield's loss dropped their record down to 9-16. As for North Greene, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.

North Greene suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to Litchfield in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
