Football Game Preview: Greybull Buffaloes vs. Rocky Mountain Grizzlies

The Greybull Buffaloes will challenge the Rocky Mountain Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Greybull will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

Greybull is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wyoming's top teams: Big Piney, who was ranked ninth at the time (Greybull was ranked fifth). The Buffaloes secured a 20-14 W over the Punchers on Saturday. Those 20 points were actually the fewest the Buffaloes have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

A big part of Greybull's victory came down to the chemistry between Caden Hunt and his top target Mason Richardsen. Hunt threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns on only eight passes while Richardsen picked up 102 receiving yards and one TD. Those two passing touchdowns gave Hunt a new career-high. Bennet Sanford handled things on the ground, rushing for 95 yards.

Greybull was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 216 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Big Piney only rushed for 68.

Greybull didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Richardsen, Jordi Araiza, and Blade Baer picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rocky Mountain). They blew past Wyoming Indian, posting a 77-0 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Rocky Mountain now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Greybull, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Everything went Greybull's way against Rocky Mountain in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as Greybull made off with a 33-8 victory. Do the Buffaloes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Grizzlies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
