Recap: Mart Panthers vs. Marlin Bulldogs
The Mart Panthers lost against the Marlin Bulldogs back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Mart had to suffer through a rough 80-30 loss at the hands of Marlin. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mart in their matchups with Marlin: they've now lost nine in a row.
Marlin's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacorian Johnson led the charge by scoring 14 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johnson has scored all season. Aarik Smith-shelley was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five steals and four blocks.
Mart's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Marlin, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mart will challenge Bremond at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Marlin, they will head out on the road to challenge Riesel at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Riesel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1337th, while Marlin is ranked 508th).
