It was fun while it lasted, but Riverton's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Woods Cross Wildcats by a score of 43-41. While the Silverwolves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 9-5 in the first quarter.
When it comes to explaining why Riverton lost, don't look at Faythe Stauffer. Despite the final result, she went 8 for 19 on her way to 21 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Talbot, who posted three points and five steals.
Woods Cross' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace MacArthur, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 17 points and five rebounds. MacArthur is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Ili Crockett was another key player, putting up eight points along with eight boards and three steals.
Having lost for the first time this season, Riverton fell to 3-1. As for Woods Cross, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Riverton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-54 victory against Skyridge on the 6th. As for Woods Cross, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-31 win against Skyline on the 5th.
