Softball Recap: Foothill Takes Down California in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Foothill walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the California Grizzlies 3-2 on Friday. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Grizzlies last Tuesday, they had to take a 11-10 defeat.

Myra Galzie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Naima Braham, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Brea Olsen was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Foothill and bumps their season record up to 15-8-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch. As for California, their loss dropped their record down to 19-9.

Coming up, Foothill will head out to square off against Liberty at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Falcons surely won't give up without a fight. California does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
