Baseball Game Preview: Grafton Bearcats vs. Lewis County Minutemen

Grafton is on a four-game streak of home losses, and Lewis County a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Grafton Bearcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lewis County Minutemen at 5:30 p.m.

Last Saturday, Grafton didn't have quite enough to beat Parkersburg and fell 10-9.

Greyson Ramezan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was John Gouzd, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lewis County). They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Trinity Christian on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Minutemen needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Ryder Aman made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Aman was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joel Good, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Lewis County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lewis County's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Grafton, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Grafton was able to grind out a solid victory over Lewis County when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 10-7. Do the Bearcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Minutemen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
