Basketball Game Preview: Red Cloud Warriors vs. Deshler Dragons

The Red Cloud Warriors will be taking part in a tournament against the Deshler Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Red Cloud has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Red Cloud is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Giltner: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Red Cloud blew Giltner out of the water with a 59-16 final score. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 27 points or more this season.

Red Cloud found their leader in freshman Aiva Rust, who posted 17 points. Josie Faimon was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Meanwhile, Deshler was just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 33-32 to Kenesaw. The Dragons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Red Cloud is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Deshler, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-8.

Red Cloud didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Deshler in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 33-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Red Cloud since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
