Football Recap: Thomasville Tigers vs. Southside Panthers
It was a proper cat-fight when Thomasville faced off against Southside on Friday. The Tigers took a 22-15 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.
A big part of Southside's victory came down to the chemistry between Kole Moody and his top target Cedrick Simmons. Moody threw for 408 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.1% of his passes while Simmons picked up 214 receiving yards and one score. Those 408 passing yards gave Moody a new career-high.
Thomasville now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Southside, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Thomasville and Southside should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. The Tigers will face off against Sumter Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank advantage (127 vs. 385). Meanwhile, Southside (ranked 126th) will meet Dallas County (ranked 383rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
