Softball Recap: Stanwood's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Stanwood extended their winning streak to four on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 14-2 in the process. They walked away with a 4-1 win over the Monroe Bearcats. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-2 two weeks ago.

Addison Anderson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over ten innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Megan Stulc was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Monroe, they moved to 11-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring game so far this season.

On Monroe's side, Addy Bryant spent all ten innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stanwood will face off against Oak Harbor at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Monroe, they will take on Marysville-Pilchuck at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
