Softball Recap: Heritage Takes a Loss

Heritage dropped their record down to 12-9 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Wake Forest Cougars, falling 6-0. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Huskies' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Heritage saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayden Callahan, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Wake Forest, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On Wake Forest's side, not much got past Jil Livengood, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Heritage off the board. Livengood has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kaylee Bowers was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mia Spahlinger, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Heritage wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 6-3 loss against Garner on the 6th. As for Wake Forest, they have also already played their next contest, a 5-4 victory against Wakefield on the 2nd.
