Basketball Recap: Potomac Falls Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Potomac Falls couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Riverbend Bears by a score of 43-40 on Wednesday. The match marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Potomac Falls lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Troy Hooper, who posted eight points and ten boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last 13 games he's played. AJ Pawlowski was another key player, putting up four points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Riverbend had a senior duo take command as Amani Gipson went 10-for-15 on his way to 21 points and seven boards and Donovan Tate went 5-for-7 to rack up 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the most points Tate has posted since back in December of 2024.

Potomac Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Riverbend, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Potomac Falls does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Riverbend, they will square off against Riverside at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Riverside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 contests -- so hopefully Riverbend likes a good challenge.
