Baseball Game Preview: Talawanda Brave vs. Daviess County Panthers

The Talawanda Brave will take on the Daviess County Panthers at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. Neither Talawanda nor Daviess County posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Talawanda managed to slip by Bishop Fenwick the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Talawanda came up short against Bishop Fenwick on Saturday, falling 7-1.

Eddie Tanner put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Tanner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double.

Tanner wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kyle Jones, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Daviess County didn't have quite enough to beat Bowling Green on Thursday and fell 2-1.

Brodie Tucker was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Talawanda's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2. As for Daviess County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
