Basketball Recap: Hoopeston's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Hoopeston had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 62-58 W against the Chrisman Cardinals. That's more bragging rights for the Cornjerkers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hoopeston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Claire Dixon, who posted 19 points. Maddie Barnes was another key player, putting up 15 points and seven rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Chrisman lost, don't look at Taylor Jones. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 27 points and 12 boards. That was a full 46.6% of Chrisman's points, marking the third time in a row Jones has scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jaidyn Alexander, who went 5-for-11 en route to 12 points and six assists.

Hoopeston's victory bumped their record up to 19-10. As for Chrisman, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 18 of their last 20 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 4-23 record this season.

Hoopeston does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Chrisman, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 47-32 loss against Georgetown-Ridge Farm on the 15th.
