Basketball Game Preview: Kirtland Hornets vs. St. Martin de Porres Lions

The Kirtland Hornets will take on the St. Martin de Porres Lions at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. St. Martin de Porres took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Kirtland, who comes in off a win.

On Wednesday, Kirtland was able to grind out a solid win over Wickliffe, taking the game 46-36.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when St. Martin de Porres challenged Bedford on Sunday. St. Martin de Porres took a hard 46-31 fall against Bedford.

Kirtland will need focus on slowing down Haylee Ray, one of several St. Martin de Porres players who made an impact when they last played. She almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Ray a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Alayah Coleman, who posted seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Kirtland is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for St. Martin de Porres, their loss dropped their record down to 3-12.
