Preview: Willowbrook Warriors vs. Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs
The Willowbrook Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Willowbrook and 12 for Berwyn/Cicero Morton.
Willowbrook pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-56 to Proviso East. While losing is never fun, Willowbrook can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 432nd, while Proviso East is ranked 171st).
Meanwhile, Berwyn/Cicero Morton also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Riverside-Brookfield by a score of 50-38. Berwyn/Cicero Morton has struggled against Riverside-Brookfield recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Willowbrook has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-16.
Willowbrook was able to grind out a solid victory over Berwyn/Cicero Morton when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 59-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Willowbrook since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
