Softball Recap: Mountlake Terrace Takes a Loss

Mountlake Terrace fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Meadowdale on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mavericks by a score of 4-3. If the Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to the Mavericks when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Amaya Johnson was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. Johnson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Evie Snow, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Mountlake Terrace's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2. As for Meadowdale, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-3.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Mountlake Terrace is set to challenge their familiar foe Shorecrest at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Meadowdale will square off against rival Snohomish at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
