Basketball Recap: St. Margaret's Win Ends Seven-Game Losing Streak on the Road

St. Margaret's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 62-54 victory over the University Trojans. This was a revenge game for the Tartans: when they faced off against the Trojans back in January, they had to take a 72-68 defeat.

Despite the loss, University still got an impressive performance from Savion Ruth, who posted 21 points and three steals. That's the most points Ruth has posted since back in February of 2024. Connor Cao also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

St. Margaret's win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-18. As for University, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-18.

St. Margaret's will head out to take on Portola at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Portola knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully St. Margaret's likes a good challenge. As for University, they will face off against Laguna Beach at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. University is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season.
