Softball Recap: Winnebago's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

If Winnebago was riding high fresh off their 16-0 takedown of Forreston on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Indians fell 8-5 to the North Boone Vikings on Monday. The Indians' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Vern Gilley-Amdal put in work no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Sammi Falnes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

Winnebago now has a losing record of 11-12. As for North Boone, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.
