Flint Hill is 0-10 against Potomac School since May of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Huskies will square off against the Panthers at 11:00 a.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Flint Hill proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out National Cathedral 11-9.
Cate Stanley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zaina Gilbert, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ellison Washburn, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Potomac School entered their tilt with Georgetown Visitation Prep on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Cubs. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 11 games by nine runs or more so far this season.
Catherine Stallmer made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Stallmer was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Paige Schedler was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Zora Burrell also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Potomac School was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .455 or higher in five consecutive matchups.
Potomac School pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Flint Hill, their record is now 8-4.
Saturday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Flint Hill has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. However, it's not like Potomac School struggles in that department as they've averaged .584. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Flint Hill suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Potomac School in their previous matchup last Wednesday. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
