Basketball Game Preview: Joseph City Wildcats vs. Fort Thomas Apaches

Two dominant guards in Audrey Neill and Adaia Lorenzo are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Joseph City Wildcats will square off against the Fort Thomas Apaches at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Joseph City comes in on three and Fort Thomas on seven.

Joseph City is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They beat St. David by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 64-36. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 25 games by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Fort Thomas was able to grind out a solid win over Mogollon on Saturday, taking the game 50-37.

Fort Thomas' win came from a few key players Joseph City will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kaylee Benally, who en route to 14 points and eight boards. Jamie Johnson was another key player, putting up ten points and five rebounds.

Fort Thomas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 20 consecutive matchups.

Fort Thomas' victory bumped their record up to 30-5. As for Joseph City, their win bumped their record up to an identical 30-5.

Everything went Joseph City's way against Fort Thomas when the teams last played back in January, as Joseph City made off with a 63-40 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Joseph City since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
