Basketball Game Preview: Kirbyville Wildcats vs. Kountze Lions

Kirbyville hasn't had much luck against Kountze recently, but that could start to change on Friday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Kirbyville Wildcats duke it out with the Kountze Lions at 6:15 p.m.

Kirbyville is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They fell 43-31 to Warren.

Meanwhile, Kountze had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.3 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They blew past the Panthers 84-11. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while the Panthers are ranked 1414th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kountze is also on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.1 points per game. As for Kirbyville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-18.

Kirbyville was taken down by Kountze 78-36 in their previous meeting on January 7th. Can Kirbyville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
