Baseball Recap: Grant County Takes a Loss

Grant County extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 12-10. They came up short against the Simon Kenton Pioneers, falling 13-2. If the Braves were looking for revenge after losing 5-3 to the Pioneers when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Grant County saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braylon Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Simon Kenton, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Simon Kenton's side, Luke Gabbard tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Gabbard has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caleb Uhl, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Jordan Johnson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Looking ahead, Grant County will challenge Scott County at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Simon Kenton, they will face off against Scott at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
