Football Recap: Sullivan Finds Playoff Glory Versus South Vermillion

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Sullivan had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 70-14 victory over the South Vermillion Wildcats. The Golden Arrows might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 35 points or more this season.

Clark French produced another solid effort rushing for 171 yards and four scores on only eight carries. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 149 rushing yards. Zane Catlin was another key player, gaining 102 total yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sullivan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 292 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Sullivan, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Wyatt Epling, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Sullivan pushed their record up to 7-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.5 points on average over those games. As for South Vermillion, their loss dropped their record down to 3-7.

Coming up, Sullivan will take on North Posey at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Vermillion does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
