Softball Recap: Walton Find Success

After losing to Freeport the last time they met, Walton decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Braves walked away with a 4-1 victory over the Bulldogs on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Braves.

Bella Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Alayah Dalton was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

Walton's record is now 7-10. As for Freeport, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Walton will be playing in front of their home fans against Choctawhatchee at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Braves are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Freeport, they will take on Baker at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Gators have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
