Basketball Recap: Garner Takes a Loss

Garner lost against South Garner back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Garner Trojans were dealt a 72-29 defeat at the hands of the South Garner Titans. The Trojans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-13.

Garner lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aniyah Williams, who posted 17 points and three steals. That was a full 58.6% of Garner's points, marking the third time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points.

Kimaya Barnes was nothing short of spectacular for South Garner: she dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten assists. That's the most assists Barnes has posted since back in January of 2024. Harleigh Clark was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Garner and nudges their season record down to 8-8. As for South Garner, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5.

Garner has already played their next contest, a 67-52 loss against Cleveland on the 27th. As for South Garner, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 57-48 defeat against Southeast Raleigh on the 27th.
