Recap: Columbia Wildcats vs. Poplarville Hornets
In what's become a running theme this season, the Columbia Wildcats gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. Everything went their way against Poplarville as Columbia made off with a 43-22 victory. Given Columbia's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Poplarville is ranked 213th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jakira Brown, who scored 17 points. She hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Indea Pounds, who scored eight points.
Columbia has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Poplarville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10.
Columbia will be playing at home against Lawrence County at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lawrence County comes in on six and Columbia on five. As for Poplarville, they will head out on the road to face off against Pass Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pass Christian is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
