Baseball Game Preview: Colquitt County Packers vs. Walton Raiders

The Colquitt County Packers will venture away from home to square off against the Walton Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Friday just wasn't the day for Colquitt County's offense. They fell just short of Pike County by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The Packers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Walton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Marietta 6-5. The win was nothing new for the Raiders as they're now sitting on six straight.

Walton pushed their record up to 23-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Colquitt County, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-14.

Colquitt County couldn't quite get it done against Walton when the teams last played back in March of 2017 as they fell 10-6. Can the Packers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
