The Fountain Inn Fury will head out to square off against the Westside Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Fountain Inn came out on top against Wren on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Fury were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Hurricanes.
Halle Baker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits.
On the hitting side, Bethany Brown and Olivia Lieb did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Lieb went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Mia Anderson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Fountain Inn hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Westside got themselves on the board against Emerald on Thursday, but Emerald never followed suit. They blew past the Vikings 19-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.
Amelia Wilson was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Starlyn Clardy, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Fountain Inn's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Westside, their record is now 11-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Fountain Inn has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Westside struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
