Basketball Game Preview: Dwight Trojans vs. Newark Norsemen

Dwight hasn't had much luck against Newark recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The two teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Dwight knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Newark likes a good challenge.

On Monday, Dwight ended up a good deal behind Fieldcrest and lost 77-63. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (58), the Trojans still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Newark came tearing into Monday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Chargers as they made off with a 53-27 win. That 26 point margin sets a new team best for the Norsemen this season.

Newark's win came from a few key players Dwight will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Payton Wills, who went 8 for 9 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Long, who went 8 of 18 on his way to 19 points and eight rebounds.

Newark's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Dwight, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
