Baseball Game Preview: West County Bulldogs vs. Ste. Genevieve Dragons

The West County Bulldogs will challenge the Ste. Genevieve Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (West County 2, Ste. Genevieve 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Ste. Genevieve will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: West County extended their winning streak to four on Friday. West County came out on top against Portageville by a score of 6-1.

Meanwhile, Ste. Genevieve hadn't done well against Farmington recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Dragons had just enough and edged out the Knights 6-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Dragons.

The team relied heavily on Jeremiah Bird, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Ethan Ottens also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Ste. Genevieve's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for West County, their win bumped their record up to 19-2-1.

West County beat Ste. Genevieve 7-3 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
