The Pinecrest Patriots will face off against the Fairmont Golden Tornadoes at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

Pinecrest is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Union Pines just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a hard 57-42 fall against the Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Vikings are ranked 40th).

Meanwhile, Fairmont came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bucks 55-23.

Fairmont's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.4 points per game. As for Pinecrest, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
