Baseball Game Preview: Cardinal Stritch Cardinals vs. Toledo Christian Eagles

The Cardinal Stritch Cardinals are taking a road trip to square off against the Toledo Christian Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cardinal Stritch comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Cardinal Stritch lost 29-5 to Ottawa Hills on Thursday.

Cardinal Stritch saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angelo Nino, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Meanwhile, Toledo Christian posted their closest win since April 20, 2024 on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over Northwood. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Tyler Grace made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off only one hit. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. He has become a key player for Toledo Christian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryson Quinn, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Connor Egbert also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Toledo Christian's record now sits at 3-5. As for Cardinal Stritch, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Cardinal Stritch took their win against Toledo Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-4 score. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
