Baseball Game Preview: Manvel Mavericks vs. New Caney Eagles

The Manvel Mavericks will face off against the New Caney Eagles at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

New Caney will be up against a hot Manvel squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Manvel blew past Austin 20-2 on Friday. Considering the Mavericks have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jacob Jimenez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Jimenez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Manvel let Christian Hamilton and Brayden Tuiasosopo run wild. Hamilton went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Tuiasosopo scored four runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Tuiasosopo has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dylan Lam, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Manvel always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, New Caney made easy work of Cypress Springs on Thursday and carried off an 8-2 win.

New Caney now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Manvel, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
