Basketball Recap: St. John Paul II Comes Up Short

On Thursday, the St. John Paul II Panthers ended up a good deal behind the Poplar Springs Atomics and lost 33-16. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, St. John Paul II saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ashlyn Naumann posted 11 points and four steals. That was a full 68.8% of St. John Paul II's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Abigail De-Mont Rosier Thomas also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

St. John Paul II's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Poplar Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-17 record this season.
