Baseball Recap: Westchester Comes Up Short

Westchester suffered their closest loss since March 22, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of the Fairfax Lions by a score of 7-5. The Comets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lions earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

Draiden Harris-Smith made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Henry Rocha was another key player, scoring a run and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Westchester's defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Fairfax, they moved to 2-6 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westchester will welcome University at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Westchester's pitchers better be ready for this one: University has averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season. As for Fairfax, they will host Venice at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Venice's pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so Fairfax's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
