Softball Recap: Harleton Takes a Loss

Elysian Fields hit Harleton with a five-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Wildcats came up short against the Yellowjackets, falling 13-6. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Yellowjackets earlier this season, when they won 5-1.

Harleton got a good showing from Landree Lowry, who pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits Lowry has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Katelyn Watson and Annabelle Bunger stepped up to the plate in a big way. Watson got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, while Bunger earned two RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Bunger is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Harleton has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-22-1 record this season. As for Elysian Fields, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-16-1.

As of now, neither Harleton nor the Yellowjackets have any future games scheduled.
