Basketball Game Preview: Berea Bulldogs vs. South Pointe Stallions

The Berea Bulldogs will head out to take on the South Pointe Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Berea knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully South Pointe likes a good challenge.

Berea proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 20) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-58 win over Laurens. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Bulldogs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Raiders are ranked 29th).

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, South Pointe rose to the challenge on Monday. They blew past the Bobcats 72-32.

South Pointe's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31 points. As for Berea, the victory got them back to even at 12-12.

Berea came up short against South Pointe when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 57-49. Can Berea avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
