Basketball Recap: Nevaeh Jimenez and Brianna Orona Secure Win for Valley

Valley posted their closest win since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-49 victory over the Frontier Academy Wolverines. The win was nothing new for the Vikings as they're now sitting on three straight.

Valley was led to victory by Brianna Orona and Nevaeh Jimenez. Orona went 7 of 13 en route to 14 points along with eight boards and seven steals, while Jimenez went 8 of 12 on her way to 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. Orona continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendyll Mayhugh, who posted four points along with nine rebounds and four steals.

Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 11 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Valley's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Frontier Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Valley and Wellington will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Frontier Academy will take on Fowler in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
