Baseball Recap: Jackson County Takes a Loss

Jackson County had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 3-18 to make it six. They came up short against the Cumberland County Jets, falling 19-3. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2017.

Bryce Stafford and Hayden Stafford did some serious damage despite the final result: Bryce went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Hayden went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was Bryce's first of the season.

As for Cumberland County, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 8-10 record. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

On Cumberland County's side, they let Jaden Hensley and David Glup run wild. Hensley went 2-for-4 with five RBI and three runs, while Glup got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those five RBI gave Hensley a new career-high. Eli Ostrander was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Jackson County will challenge Smith County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Cumberland County, they will square off against DeKalb County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
