Basketball Recap: Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds vs. Creede Miners

The Sangre de Cristo Thunderbirds won the last time they faced the Creede Miners, and things went their way on Friday too. Sangre de Cristo walked away with a 56-49 victory over the Miners. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Sangre de Cristo.

Sangre de Cristo's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Audrina Knorr, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Knorr has scored all season. Jaydra Cordova was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 22 rebounds.

Creede's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jalen Laing, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine blocks. Laing has been hot recently, having posted three or more blocks the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Fairchild, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.

Sangre de Cristo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Creede, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
